Conversion Tip Tuesday — Don't Make People Guess What Happens Next
Getting someone interested in your business is only the first step.
The next question is:
What do they do now?
If your website, social media, or marketing doesn't make that obvious, you may be losing potential customers.
The Problem
A visitor might like what they see.
They might be interested in your service.
They might even be ready to reach out.
But if they have to figure out what to do next, they may simply leave.
Don't make your customer work that hard.
Give Them One Clear Next Step
Your call-to-action should answer:
"What should I do next?"
For example:
👉 Schedule a Consultation
👉 Request a Quote
👉 Get Your Free Website Audit
👉 Shop Now
👉 Learn More
👉 Contact Us
The best CTA depends on where the customer is in their journey.
Someone discovering your business for the first time may be ready to Learn More.
Someone who already understands your service may be ready to Request a Quote.
Don't Compete With Yourself
If your page has:
"Contact Us"
"Learn More"
"Download This"
"Follow Us"
"Book Now"
"Read Our Blog"
"See Our Portfolio"
all fighting for attention, your visitor may not know which one matters most.
Guide them toward the action you want them to take.
Quick Action Step
Look at your homepage.
Give yourself 5 seconds.
Ask:
"What action am I being asked to take?"
If the answer isn't immediately obvious, your CTA may need some work.
Pro Tip
Your CTA doesn't have to be clever.
It has to be clear.
"Get Your Free Website Audit" tells me exactly what I'll get.
"Let's Get Started" sounds nice—but tells me much less.
Marketing Minute Takeaway
Don't assume people know what to do next.
Tell them.
The easier you make the next step, the easier you make it for an interested visitor to become a lead.
